Words Can't Define the Way I Feel

Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VII is a game that takes place in a foreign land known as Gaea. On this planet they struggle with problems similar to own; specifically getting energy without killing the planet. That being said, there are a lot more differences than there are similarities. Therefore, I've compiled a small glossary of terms for your convenience.

Mako - The prime energy source for Gaea. It is a refined chemical made from the planet's lifeblood. It was first harvested by Shinra Company, and is the source of their power as a company. It is also used as an enhancement drug on Shinra's SOLDIER army.

Materia - The refined form of a crystal-like substance formed from Mako that built up in small areas. It is used to produce magic in battle. Materia comes in a variety of types, each with unique abilities, such as Fire, Ice, Thunder, Haste, and even summons.

Lifestream - The raw form of the planet's lifeblood. It is the origin of Mako. Without it the planet essentially dies. Also, it is kind of like heaven since, when people die they rejoin the lifestream, which is the origin of all life.

Jenova - An alien life form that was found buried in the ground. Jenova's goal is to unite the experimental humans, who had her cells injected into their body, for the soul purpose of eventually taking over the world.

Ancients - A race of human-like beings that existed long before humans. They hold the knowledge of the planet and can speak to it. They can also heal and summon world saving goodness. Most of them have died out by the start of Final Fantasy VII.
